One of the very few good things about the Black Friday shopping day is that it will be the end of those vapid Target commercials contorting Christmas songs into monumentally-even-more-vapid Target jingles.
I think that the monumental irony of Target's commercials are that they have tried to distance themselves from traditional "Christmas" festivities but theirs were the first "late December holiday with the exchange of gifts in the midst of decorated, snowy environments" commercials.
Yup -- and at least two of their jingles use religious Christmas tunes; "Do You Hear What I Hear?" and "The Hallelujah Chorus." From "He shall bring us goodness and light" to "We should totally shop together." Ick.
