Perspectives

Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day shows how different a sunset can look from a different perspective...like a different planet. The side-by-side compares a sunset on Earth with pictures the Curiosity rover took of one on Mars.

Unsurprisingly, the sun from Mars looks slightly smaller. But what scientists are working at is trying to figure out why it's bluer than the Earthview edition. Martian dust and its light-scattering properties are the prime candidates.
